Below Ground Waterproofing

Below ground waterproofing is an important step in protecting the structure of a building and ensuring the safety of the occupants. Below-grade surfaces, such as basements, crawlspaces, and underground structures, are particularly susceptible to water infiltration due to their proximity to the water table. Water infiltration can cause damage to the structure, mold and mildew growth, and create a safety hazard.

There are different aspects that contribute to the efficientcy of below ground waterproofing, such as the type of waterproofing membrane or coating to the surface, installing a drainage system, and ensuring proper flashing and sealing around penetrations. A common method of below-ground waterproofing is the application of a waterproofing membrane to the exterior of the foundation walls, or "negative waterproofing" which is different from positive waterproofing which is applied to the inside of the foundation walls.
